Overview
Over the last five days we have seen government bonds edge higher as equity weakness has developed. Last Friday German Bunds achieved 2010 highs at 123.49, US Ten Years also performed strongly reaching 118.015. (more…)

Overview
Last week was dominated by a large sell off on Thursday and Friday after a statement from Barack Obama outlining plans for changes in banking regulation. Between theWednesday open and Friday close the S&P 500 future gave up over 50 full ticks producing a new 2010 low of 1086.25. (more…)

Focus on the Euro (EUR/USD)
The Euro has continued to be under-pressure this month, a follow on from the bear trend it had settled in over the course of December. Whereas most USD crosses the USD had retraced the best part of the moves seen over December, the Euro only just managed to retrace to the significant 38.2% Fibonacci level. Overview
Over the last five days we have seen longer dated government bond futures drive higher after a couple of weeks of consolidation. The Bund hit a 2010 high yesterday of 122.78 amidst quiet trade due to the US bank holiday. This week all eyes will be on US earnings with many US financials reporting. (more…)
