Overview

Last week S&P 500 Futures had a four day week due to the Christmas break, despite this they still managed to post fresh yearly highs on Wednesday at 1128.50. After this strong start gains were given back and the market finished slightly down, closing at 1109.75. (more...)

Overview

Last week the S&P 500 future continued its recent bull run posting new yearly highs at 1103.25. The fact that so little fresh economic data was released seemed to provide perfect conditions for the market to simply drift higher. Last week the Dow also posted fresh highs at 10342, significantly breaking back above the 10,000 level.

Equity Index Overview

Over the last week S&P 500 futures predominantly traded sideways, although they did find time to post new yearly highs at 1099.00. In a week dominated by earnings, which on the whole were strong, a negative GDP figure out of the UK which was expected to be positive and signal a transition out of recession did capture the markets attention.
